Tai Fong - Space Guns
Visual Checklist / Archive
Tai Fong Electric was one of the most prolific Taiwanese toy manufacturers of the late 1970s and 1980s, and its products remain highly recognizable to vintage toy collectors today. Over nearly two decades of production, Tai Fong created an impressive variety of toys, including space guns, transformable robots, electronic games, and holiday decorations that reflected the bold designs and play patterns of the classic 80s toy era.
While some toys were sold under the Tai Fong name, the company is especially notable among collectors for its extensive private-label and OEM manufacturing. Tai Fong produced toys for numerous brands, including Four Star Transistor Robots, Rainier, and other lesser-known labels, making their designs common yet often uncredited in the vintage toy market. As a result, many 80s toys found today at flea markets, toy shows, and online auctions can be traced back to Tai Fong Electric, even when the company name is not immediately visible on the packaging.
Tai Fong translates to: "Safety, Health & Rich". The logo it's self is of two happy faces facing opposite directions (see below).
Throughout its history as a major Taiwanese toy manufacturer, Tai Fong Electric operated under numerous DBA names and subsidiary companies, a practice that can make identification challenging for vintage toy and 1980s toy collectors. These alternate company names frequently appeared on packaging, instruction sheets, and molded toy markings, often without direct reference to Tai Fong itself.
Below is a chronological list of known Tai Fong–associated brand names and subsidiaries, compiled as accurately as possible based on surviving packaging, catalog references, and collector research.
